There are two major tornado seasons in Kansas: the first season begins in early May and ends in late June, and the second season starts in November. Tornadoes could potentially strike anywhere in the country, at any time of the year.The Kansas High Plains region is an area of vast flatlands and gently rolling plains. Topographic relief is largely restricted to streams and river valleys and is most notable in the Arikaree Breaks in the far northeast corner of the state, at Point of Rocks along the Cimarron River in the far southwest corner, and around Lake Scott State Park.High Plains Educational Cooperative will assist and support the member districts in providing education services which will maximize opportunities for all children to live, learn and work in society.
