Anybody have any experience building one of these cutaway kits? Would be a cool display piece. By the time you spend the money on the parts kit and then build it, I'm not sure it really makes sense. I haven't seen a reliable PPSH-41 conversion yet, other than Sherman's over on 1919a4 and he isn't doing them anymore. The ones being sold are expensive and don't work well, and the conversion issues have been covered above.The Original parts Soviet parts kits have to be kept together. Like a lot of other Soviet wartime stuff the parts of these PPSh kits are virtually handfit making parts interchangeability problematic. This makes for difficulty when trying to remanufacture the kits on a large scale. It depends on the gun, but normally there is one component that the ATF considers the firearm, and everything else is just parts. For an AR15, the lower is considered the firearm.
