It seems the only significant difference between the G42 and the P365 is as you pointed out, the weight difference 11x9mm is a lot more weight than 7x380 (and a lot more fire power) and the width at the butt of the grip (which does matter to me as it pertains to concealability).

The p365 380 shot very well no hiccups with over 200 rounds of Fiocchi and ammo. Inc. I didn't compare the Glock 42 side to side. I didn't bring it with me but it does feel soft are from what I can remember. My wife loves the P365 380 and shot so well with it with the first mag. She would rather carry the P365 380 over the Shield Plus.The 365-380 is a much better shooter and more capacity. I'm fine with carrying a 380 vs 9mm. No one can really answer your question.
